An acceleration of madness
The skies outside are burning,
the grass on my lawn has been swallowed by Mud.
Down the road, there are highways of mayhem,
bolts of public opinion jam the flyovers,
thoughts are rear-ended by vehicles of outrage every day,
bottlenecks of conflict and arguments.
There is an acceleration of madness in the world right now,
coming to a town near you.

Screens flicker all day long with ultra-violent beams
of mottled truths and sticky facts,
brainwashing dialogues roll up and down
blurring our vision.
Accelerated madness
sashaying daily in the pockets of our youth,
swinging in the handbags of middle age,
sliding across the dashboard of the uber I now sit in.
Pop goes the weasel of reason.

However....
on the flipside of chaos
where calmness still walks,
we find children, candy cane, popcorn and music.
There are parks with lily ponds and swans who sing,
a song of redemption to a future
glowing on the horizon of our souls.
A place called hope, a street called love,
a garden full of fresh salad for survivors of accelerated madness.
Water so crystal clear, it puts out every fire
in an aching mind and singed and painful heart,
quelling every argument that exalts itself against the Truth.

Chaos and calm cross swords,
peace and peril punch it out,
while a volcanic victory erupts on man gone mad.
It's the end of the world, baby,
but not what we wanted or even asked for
in the best of our dreams.
The finished work is done,
a new day begun.
Pray, I meet you on the flipside,
the opposite of madness.
